Merlot

What's in his name? Sprookje (Sprook yuh) = fairytale in Dutch. Lunar (of the moon) from Sonoma Valley or Valley of the Moon. Appellation-a wine growing region with official designation and boundaries.

What's in his heart? An absolute passion for life! He paws you awake each morning, not to go out, but to eat! His feet can hardly stay on the ground while he waits for you to set his dish in place. His enthusiasm for his toys is also quite evident, as they are well broken in. Bystanders have chuckled to observe him leap from the podium in pursuit of the photographer's tossed squeaky!

What's in his soul? Determination, compassion, the embrace of simple pleasures, and an uncanny perception of when his "clown antics" are needed. Barely 2.7 oz. at birth; he exhibited a determination to survive, and he did.

We call him our "strong willed child", who couldn't be contained by a crate or barred by a gate. His absolute devotion to "his people" is evident in the display of exhuberant jubilation he lavishes on his human mom each time he exits the show ring. Its the same whether he's not seen me for 2 minutes or 2 months! Merlot's attitude, flashiness, confidence, and determination combine with his foxy expression, tiny erect ears, dark almond eye, short coupled stature, wonderful front, beautiful tailset, dramatic & clean color, classic size, substance, & proportion to be the package that's been grabbing the attention of conformation judges; leading to his success in the show ring for the past 2.5 years.
